After my recent trip to Okinawa with Veterans For Peace I have had time to reflect on the beauty of this island and its people, their power and determination is unbelievable. In the face of overwhelming odds through coordinated and consistent actions the resistance has been able to slow down the ongoing destruction of Henoko Bay for 17 years!! Too Many Americans do not even know where Okinawa is or that it has dozens of bases on its tiny land mass, not to mention that the people have decidedly voted to remove them all and been ignored by both Japan and the United States. Okinawa is occupied land. American bases on Okinawa is evidence of America's imperialist nature and violates international environmental protections designed to protect our planet's natural resources.
